What is FSAE?

Formula Society of Automotive Engineers

Formula SAE is an international collegiate design competition organized by SAE International. Held yearly in the United States since 1981 and Europe since 1998, more than 500 students around the world participate to build, design and test a Formula-style race car in this high octane competition.

  • Students design, build, test and race.

  • Formula style open wheeled race car

  • Maximum displacement: 710cc (for combustion engine)

  • Maximum power: 80kW (for electric)

  • Protective structure around driver and components

The Competition

Teams of students, often representing their respective universities, work collaboratively to conceive, design, fabricate, and test a high-performance race car. These vehicles are not only judged based on their speed and endurance in dynamic events such as autocross and endurance races but also on their design, cost-effectiveness, and market feasibility.
